Have you ever noticed that if you tell someone you are born under the sign of Scorpio they have one of two reactions; fear or appreciation? More often then not it is the former not the latter! From their first ruler Mars, Scorpios have a reputation of being sexy. However from their current ruler Pluto comes the reputation of their symbol, the Scorpion and the "sting in the tail". Even their alternative symbol the Eagle is a raptor bird who makes a swift kill. Oh dear, they can't win on this one. Actually there is truth in both those assertions. Like the Scorpion, those born under this sign are often slow to anger but if you warrant their wrath - beware! Cross them and they will generally show no mercy. They also may forgive but generally never forget a slight (and this could come back to haunt if you do it again).
The element of water makes them changeable but like the sign of Cancer before them, there is a inner softness to the often hard shell they present to the world. Deep inside they know they are just as vulnerable as everyone else. You know what they say "the best defense is offense". This doesn't mean though that they will "strike while the iron is hot" like the sign of Aries, ruled by Mars. They have a more subtle tactic. They strike when you least expect it. Much more effective and possibly why they have a reputation to be feared.
Unlike some signs who may cause trouble for the sake of it - Aquarius is well known for not liking things to run too smoothly because it makes life boring - they only ever attack when justified and well deserved. Often it has "the straw that broke the camels back" type scenario before they finish you off in swift fashion. Probably why most people hope they meet the sexy Scorpion. They may not look sexy on the surface but once you start to get to know them their attraction can be magnetic and can last a lifetime. There is just something about Scorpios, especially their eyes, that can be very attractive. While some may be openly sexy, most come alive behind closed doors!
